necn: New England Local News App Reviews

Used this app for weather mostly and now its terrible. No 10 day forecast. No high/low expectation. I just wanted weather, not all local news. Dislike.

You took a great app and ruined it. You should fire whoever approved the changes.

I already have and use the NECN weather app but got tired of it asking me to download the new app EVERY time I go into it, so I finally did (and it still asks me to download the app EVERY time). The weather portion of this app is lacking, cant see the whole description of the day and evenings weather even though it is the same text as the weather app. The few times Ive looked at the news stuff it has been fine, but I really dont use it much. Fix the weather stuff and I might use it, but meanwhile STOP the weather app from asking me to download this app!!!

Love the weather app but every time I login they forced me to get the News app.....Even though Ive already downloaded it!!!!! Ill be deleting both. Necn weather and news. Better options out there. This must be driving others crazy too.

You had the best weather app and then you produced this piece of junk. I dont use the new one and now use weather underground or yahoo weather. The news portion on your is a mixed up mess! Get rid of this new one and return to the old. I wanted to give you zero stars!

You had the best weather app going, but your new incarnation is utterly useless. Where is the weather, radar and forecast? Why no landscape mode? Why do you keep telling me to download the new app every time I open the old one? Go back to the drawing board--this is dreadful.

Necn had the best weather app. Now it is the worst and keeps asking you to download the news app even though I have it already. Who is responsible for this mess?

Depended on old app for years. Now that one is not working well, and new one is utter disaster. Sorry but I am getting rid of both.

Installed the new one for few days, tried to use it, just dont know where to go, the app is a history now.

It actually pains me to write such a review but NECN doesnt respond. For whatever reason, the "big" update, is full of flaws and bugs. 1. Landscape mode doesnt work. 2. Launching the App at times, opens a blank white screen. 3. The weather portion uses outdated information and lost the nice look ahead piece. 4. Cumbersome and slow. 5. Lost the clean user interface. 6. Lags realtime news! 7. Poor navigation tools. Very disappointed with this application now and have deleted it until it is rebuilt or fixed. Whoever tested this app before going live was asleep at the wheel.

The feature of adding additional locations in the weather section does not work under the latest version of IOS 8 on an iPhone 5s. The searches just dont work. Horrible user interface. Im glad I still have the old weather app.

I do not like this updated/revamped app at all. There is no landscape mode for iPad. Seriously? I the older version was much better (which I can still run on my older iPhone but not iPad). I just want the weather and for my current location. While I selected my town, the map covers too big of an area and the summary doesnt give enough specific info. Ill go on and have 87 (no exaggeration) weather alerts. When I view them they are for every New England state. I just want my local area. We are forced to view the video (which is from tv), but it is never current. For example, tonight I was on at about 5:15 and the video only showed the weather through noon! I dont know what they were thinking with this update. Im not crazy combining news with weather either. I find it clunky and cumbersome to use. I just want weather. And while I chose weather as primary page, it is still littered with news. Gave it a good month, but I am shopping for a new weather app.

On my iPhone 5s, I cant find a text forecast or the 10-day theyre so proud of. I cant zoom the map. And why does the "future" time lapse whip by too quickly to see what is happening? That has always been the case, but one would have hoped the new app would include an option to view it more slowly. I am unhappy.

Just deleted the app. Call me when you fix it!

I thought the necn app was one of the best news app available. The latest update is terrible. I no longer use it and it was my "go to" app for all local news. Please bring bad the old app. I dont understand how an upgrade could go from one of best news apps out there to one of the worst.

The only reason why I downloaded this app is so that the NECN weather app will stop asking me to download it.…guess what: it still asks me every time. Very frustrating. The app itself is mediocre at best and the constant buffering for videos is intolerable. Deleting ASAP.
